James T. Dougherty

James T. Dougherty devotes his practice to representing policyholders in residential and commercial property disputes. Prior to joining Weisser Elazar & Kantor, James worked as General Counsel for a national insurance carrier where he defended the insurance company in property and casualty coverage disputes, bad faith litigation, and first-party property litigation. James also previously represented Public Defender clients in over a dozen jury trials and hundreds of hearings.

James has conducted every stage of a jury trial and has thousands of hours of courtroom experience. James utilizes the experience gained while working as a defense lawyer for insurance companies to be a zealous advocate for homeowners and business owners in claims and lawsuits against their insurance companies.

James is a graduate of the University of Central Florida and Florida International University College of Law. He is admitted to practice throughout the state of Florida.
