Ruwan P. Sugathapala

Ruwan is an experienced litigator and trial lawyer who has successfully tried multiple cases to jury verdict as lead counsel. Ruwan has focused the majority of his career on insurance coverage and contractual disputes. He spent the beginning of his legal career defending insurance carriers, individuals, and businesses in a wide variety of complex claims including those involving residential and commercial property damage, first and third-party liability, personal injury, and construction defect. Ruwan has considerable experience in all phases of litigation from pre-suit through verdict. It is this experience that Ruwan calls on to develop thoughtful, aggressive strategies to achieve favorable results for his clients.

Ruwan has been named a “Rising Star” by the Super Lawyers publication for six consecutive years (2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023), a distinction awarded to no more than 5% of lawyers in Florida each year. Ruwan was also selected for Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch for 2021 and 2024. Ruwan is a graduate of the University of Florida and Florida International University College of Law. He is admitted to practice throughout the state of Florida including in the Middle and Southern District of Florida.

Outside of the courtroom, Ruwan enjoys traveling, golf, and spending time with his family and friends.
